HYROX has arrived in Malaysia, and KL gyms are racing to keep up. If you’ve signed up for HYROX Kuala Lumpur in December, or you’re thinking about a race abroad, the first question is: where do I actually train for this?

Here are your options, from official HYROX Training Clubs to independent gyms, plus a simple plan for your first race.

HYROX licenses selected gyms as official HYROX Training Clubs, with the race equipment and HYROX-certified coaches. The list changes as new gyms join, so use the gym finder on the official HYROX website to see the current clubs near you.

KL gyms with HYROX-style training

These KL gyms advertise HYROX or HYROX-style conditioning classes. Not all of them are official HYROX Training Clubs, so ask about the equipment (SkiErg, sleds, rowers, wall balls) before you sign up.

Gyms change their timetables often. Check each gym’s latest schedule before you go.

Try before you commit

A gym membership is a big commitment when you don’t know yet if you like the coaching, the equipment or the crowd. A class-booking membership like ClassPass lets you try several gyms in a month and keep the one that fits. Our ClassPass KL guide explains how credits work.

Try different gyms and studios with ClassPass

One membership, credits you spend on classes across KL: HYROX-style conditioning, strength, spin, Pilates and more. New members get free workouts when they sign up through our link (the offer is shown on the sign-up page).

A simple 8-week plan for your first HYROX

This is a general plan for healthy adults who already exercise. If you’re new to training or have an injury, talk to a coach or doctor first.

WeeksFocusEach week
1–2Base2 easy runs, 2 full-body strength sessions, 1 class to learn the stations
3–4StationsPractise 4 stations per session with short runs between them
5–6Compromised running1 km runs straight after sleds, lunges and wall balls: the hardest part of race day
7SimulationOne half or full race simulation at race pace
8TaperLighter week, sleep, stay healthy, check your race day and kit

On recovery days, a low-impact class like reformer Pilates builds core strength without adding fatigue. And if the haze rolls in, here’s how to keep training indoors.

Can I join HYROX classes without a gym membership?
