HYROX is finally coming to Malaysia. The world’s fastest-growing fitness race lands at MITEC, Kuala Lumpur this December. Whether you’re racing Solo, Doubles or Relay, or cheering from the stands, this guide covers the race itself, getting to KL, and how to recover (and celebrate) after.

What is HYROX?
HYROX is a standardised fitness race, run in the same format all over the world. That means your time in KL is directly comparable to London, Hong Kong or New York. Every race is:
8 × 1 km runs, each followed by one workout station:
| # | Station |
|---|---|
| 1 | SkiErg (1,000 m) |
| 2 | Sled Push |
| 3 | Sled Pull |
| 4 | Burpee Broad Jumps |
| 5 | Rowing (1,000 m) |
| 6 | Farmers Carry |
| 7 | Sandbag Lunges |
| 8 | Wall Balls |
Divisions: Open and Pro (heavier weights), raced Solo, as Doubles, or as a 4-person Relay. If it’s your first race, Open Doubles is the friendliest way to start.
Getting to KL for race weekend
Flying into KLIA
The cheapest and easiest way into the city is the airport bus to KL Sentral, then a Grab to MITEC (around 20–30 minutes, depending on traffic).
KL Sentral ⇄ KLIA Airport Bus by Aerobus
- Budget-friendly airport transfer
- Direct between KLIA and KL Sentral
Travelling as a team, or from Penang, Melaka or Genting?
Relay squads with kit bags will find a private transfer much easier, and it can also take you on to Melaka, Penang or Genting after the race.
Private Transfers: KL, Melaka, Penang, Genting & More
- Door-to-door, perfect for teams with gear
- Covers major cities across Peninsular Malaysia
Coming from Singapore?
Luxury VIP Bus: KL Guided Day Tour from Singapore
- Premium coach from Singapore to KL
- Guided sightseeing included, ideal for supporters
Getting to MITEC: Grab is the easiest way. MITEC sits in the KL Metropolis area next to Publika and Solaris Dutamas, where you’ll find plenty of cafés and food for carb-loading before the race.
Where to stay for race weekend
Stay close to MITEC so race morning is a short Grab ride, not a battle with KL traffic:
- Mont Kiara and Dutamas: the closest areas, with serviced apartments that suit teams and relay squads
- Sri Hartamas: a short ride away, with plenty of food and bars for after the race
- KL Sentral: best if you’re arriving by train or the airport bus, then a Grab to MITEC
Race weekend is busy, so book early and choose free cancellation in case your race day changes.

Sleds, SkiErgs and wall balls aren’t in every gym. Try a few KL gyms that have the race equipment before you commit to one.

- Pace the first run. Everyone goes out too fast, and you’ll pay for it at the sled push.
- Practise the Roxzone, the transition area between running and stations. Time is won and lost there.
- Wall balls come last and are where most people struggle. Break them into sets early.
- Bring: grippy shoes, gloves for the sled pull (optional), electrolytes and a change of clothes.
- Hydrate the day before. KL in December is hot and humid, even indoors.
- Arrive early to collect your wristband and walk the course.
Recover like a pro: post-race spa
Your legs will hate you after the sandbag lunges. Book a proper massage for the day after. You’ve earned it.
